The life cycle of this big dragonfly is quite complex :
🥚🌿 Eggs are deposited on plants at the water surface (sometimes in water)
💧 After the egg hatched, the little larva gets out and will live a few months to 3 years into the water.
🍽 She’s going to moult several times, and by the way eat a lot of mosquito larvae, among other things passing within her reach… she truly is voracious, who’s not afraid to attack bigger than herself !
🐉 And then one day, between April and October, she climbs out of water, and moults one last time, leaving the old envelope, the exuvia, hung on plants, to finally spread her wings ☀️
🔄 And after reproduction, the cycle starts all over again…
